Widows

Support

Abu Huraira Radi Allah Anhu reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace, and blessings be upon him, said, “One who lends effort to the widows and the poor is like one waging Jihad in the way of Allah, or one who regularly prays at night and fasts during the day”. [Bukhari]

The death of a loved one and the grieving process is different for everyone, but people who experience loss all have one thing in common: Their world is turned upside down and completely restructured, both emotionally, physically and sometimes economically. In the grieving process, it is normal for widows to withdraw even more from society and face lonesome days with little support for their families. Their usual habits and patterns seem to be crumbling around them, and life can seem scary and empty. This is where we come in.

Eid Gift

We source a Sponsor to commit to giving ongoing financial support to a widowed family. It is very difficult for widows to financially support themselves if they have children to look after. This problem is aggravated in many countries which do not offer any support to them. By sponsoring a widow and her children, you can improve their living standards/hardship by covering their basic needs. Our Team offers general help and financial support via the allocated Sponsor, the beneficiary is provided with a monthly allowance to gain independence with things such as shopping, utility bills, medical fees/appointments or even school fees.

Zakah, Sadaqah and Lillah is accepted for Widows Support.

A Widow has

the freedom to live her life as she wishes

Islam does not put any restrictions on a widow after her husband’s death. After completing the Iddah (four months and ten days) she is free to marry anyone she wants. It is from Sunnah to marry a widow. Prophet Muhammad peace, and blessings be upon him married Khadijah Radi Allah Anha and she was a widow.

Allah says about widows:

And those of you who die and leave wives behind them, they (the wives) shall wait (as regards their marriage) for four months and ten days, then when they have fulfilled their term, there is no sin on you if they (the wives) dispose of themselves in a just and honourable manner (i.e. they can marry). And Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do. al-Quran (2:234)

The life of a woman without her husband’s support is very tough. This is why Islam encourages widows to marry again.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace, and blessings be upon him, said, “One who lends effort to the widows and the poor is like one waging jihad in the way of Allah, or one who regularly prays at night and fasts during the day”.
